I am shocked that Avis and Budget in South Africa are charging my card for admin fees, six months after the return of my rental car at East London.
Yes, you must be very careful of this. In the small print Avis / Budget have the right to charge you an admin fee, normally around $25 per charge, every time they receive a parking or speeding fine. They do not inform you of the details of the ticket.
So, How would I know there had been any tickets, if they dont inform me by email?
You don't. They also say it's because you cannot pay the fine from abroad.

Exactly, but Avis would rather charge you an admin fine. They say it's because they have to send someone to the courts to get the fines removed? Make sure Avis / Budget know your email address, and ask them to specifically send any tickets on to you, so you can pay them.
Sounds like a scam..
